Endpoint:
oxidising liquids
Type of information:
other: expert judgement
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.21 (Oxidising Properties (Liquids))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Key result
Parameter:
other: The oxidising potential of the test material was predicted by analogy with existing compounds.
Remarks on result:
not measured/tested

The chemical structure of the test material was examined and ascertained whether or not there are any groups present that are associated with oxidising properties (Appendix 6 of the United Nations ‘Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria’). From an examination of the chemical structure of the test material, it was confirmed that it contained oxygen, but only chemically bonded to carbon or hydrogen. Neither fluorine nor chlorine are present. Consequently, the test material would not be expected to possess oxidising properties.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The test material does not show oxidising properties.

Description of key information

not oxidising  (EU A.21)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
non oxidising

Additional information

The test material does not contain fluorine nor chlorine. The contained oxygen is chemically bounded only to carbon or hydrogen.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Classification according to the CLP Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 is not necessary.
