Additional information

In the key study Tremain (2008), the flammability of the test material was determined in a GLP study performed in accordance with EU Test Method A10, using the burning rate method. This study was assigned a reliability score of 1 in line with the principles for assessing data quality as defined by Klimisch et al (1997).

In the preliminary test the pile failed to ignite during the two minutes the Bunsen flame was applied. The result of the preliminary screening test obviated the need to perform the main test.

Under the conditions of the test, the test material was determined to be not highly flammable as it failed to ignite.

In accordance with Section 2, Annex XI of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, it is considered justified to omit the Flammability (Contact with Water) study and the Flammability (Pyrophoric Properties) study (both required under standard information requirement Section 7.10) as there is no evidence based on its chemical structure, or experience in handling, that the substance will either spontaneously ignite in air at room temperature or exhibit flammable properties in contact with water.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the criteria outlined in Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 the test material does not meets the criteria for classification as a flammable solid.
