Fish:

Acute toxicity of TCPP to fish (Pimephales promelas) was assessed in a static bioassay. After 96 hours of exposure a LC50 of 51 mg/l was derived (Meeks, 1985).

Invertebrates:

TCPP was tested with respect to the acute toxicity towards invertebrates (Daphnia magna) in a static test yielding in an 48 h-EC50 of 131 mg/L (Meeks, 1985).

The long-term toxicity test of TCPP towards aquatic invertebrates (Daphnia magna) was investigated in a reproduction test according OECD Guideline 202. After 21 days of exposure a NOEC-reproduction of 32 mg/l was determined (Sewell & Bartlett, 1995).

Algae:

Concerning the toxicity to algae, the fresh water alga Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata was exposed to TCPP for 72 hours. The experiment was conducted according to OECD Guideline 201 (Alga, Growth Inhibition Test). The test gave a 72-h ErC50 value for effects on growth rate of 82 mg/L and a NOEC of 13 mg/L (Desjardins, 2004).

Microorganisms:

Assessing the toxicity towards microorganisms, a test with activated sludge was performed according to ISO 8192 (Test for Inhibition of Oxygen Consumption by Activated Sludge) using TCPP. An 3h-EC50 of 784 mg/L and an 3h-EC10 of 191 mg/L was observed. (Bayer AG, 1990).
