Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Aquatic toxicity studies with manganese neodecanoate are not available. In the assessment of manganese neodecanoate, read-across to the assessment entities soluble manganese substances and neodecanoic acid is applied since the ions of manganese neodecanoate determine its fate and toxicity in the environment. Reliable data indicate that themoiety of ecotoxicological concern are manganese cations though manganese is an essential trace nutrient required for the photosynthetic process in plants. Two reliable studies for toxicity on algae are available and the lowest effect concentrations are the 72-h NOErC and ErC50 values of 0.325 mg Mn/L and 19.8 mg Mn/L for the inhibition of growth rate of Desmodesmus subspicatus. The toxicity of neodecanoic acid was evaluated in freshwater, yielding a 72-h EL50 of >100 mg/L for the inhibition of growth of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata.
