HPLC condition
- Column:ECLIPSE XDB-CN (4.6×250 mm, 5 μm)
- Oven:Waters TCM, 40 °C
- Detector:Waters 2489 UV/Visible Detector, Wavelength: 210 nm
- Pump:Waters 1525 Binary HPLC Pump
- Mobile phase:Methanol/Water =55/45, Flow rate:1.5 mL/min
- Injector:Waters 717 plus Autosampler
- Injection volume:10.0 µL
Test method:
The reference substances and test item were dissolved in the methanol, and then diluted by the mobile phase prior to inject into the HPLC system.
Firstly, Sodium nitrate was injected for three times at the HPLC condition, the retention times were recorded to calculate the dead time t0. Secondly, three reference points including Phenol, Atrazine and Naphthalene were used to determine the tR. And then the test item was injected for three times, the retention times were recorded.
REFERENCE SUBSTANCES
- Identity: Sodium nitrate, Phenol , Atrazine, Naphthalene - Key result
- Type:
- log Koc
- Value:
- < 1.32
- Details on results (HPLC method):
- - Retention times of reference substances used for calibration: The retention time of Phenol, Atrazineand, Naphthalene was 1.701, 4.131 and 13.812 min, respectively
- Retention data for test substance: 0.937~0.938 min - Conclusions:
- The HPLC estimation method was not suitable for the present test item. The result can be only described as the log Koc of test item was <1.32.
- Executive summary:
A HPLC estimation method was performed on the basis of OECD Test No. 121: Estimation of the Adsorption Coefficient (Koc) on Soil and on Sewage Sludge Using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) as adopted in 2001.
Three reference points including Phenol, Atrazine and Naphthalene were used to determine the tR, and the Sodium nitrate was used to determine the dead time t0.
The retention time of Phenol, Atrazineand, Naphthalene was 1.701, 4.131 and 13.812 min, respectively; while that of test item was 0.937~0.938 min. In other words, the retention time of test item was much lower than that of the lowest reference Phenol.
The HPLC estimation method was not suitable for the present test item. The result can be only described as the log Koc of test item was <1.32.
