Description of key information

A long-term toxicity study in Daphnia magna has not been carried out on Synthetic Wollastonite or the read-across material Soda-ash flux calcined kieselghur.

Water solubility tests determined that both Synthetic wollastonite and the read-across material Soda-ash flux calcined kieselghur are poorly soluble in water and the acute aquatic toxicity tests carried out on the read-across material Soda-ash flux calcined kieselghur determined that the LC50s were greater than the solubility of the substance (ie 100% v/v saturated solution). It is therefore considered scientifically unjustified to perform the study.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
