Description of key information

Short-term toxicity to fish: An acute 96-h toxicity test was conducted to estimate the toxicity of Pencycuron to rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Based on nominal concentrations of Pencycuron the 96-h LC50 was determined to be >0.3 mg/L.


Long-term toxicity to fish: A fish early life stage study was conducted to estimate the long-term toxicity of Pencycuron to rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Based on mean measured concentrations of Pencycuron the 94-h NOEC was determined to be 0.0832 mg/L based on swim up and growth effects.


 


Short-term toxicity to Daphnia: An acute 48-h toxicity test was conducted to determine the effect of Pencycuron on the mobility of Daphnia magna. Based on nominal concentrations of Pencycuron the 48-h EC50 for was determined to be >0.3 mg/L.


Long-term toxicity to Daphnia: A study was conducted to investigate the chronic toxicity of Pencycuron to Daphnia magna over 21 days. Based on nominal concentrations of Pencycuron the 21-d NOEC was determined to be 0.0496 mg/L.


 


Toxicity to algae: A study was conducted to determine the effect of Pencycuron on exponentially growing Selenastrum capricornutum over 72 hours under static exposure. Based on nominal concentrations of Pencycuron the 72-h EC50 and NOEC (based on growth rate) were determined to be >0.3 and ≥0.3 mg/L, respectively.


  


Toxicity to microorganisms: A respiration inhibition study was performed to investigate the toxicity of pencycuron on activated sludge exposed to it for 3 hours. The 3-h EC50 was determined to be >0.3 mg/L.
