Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Key information:
Melting point (pour point) = -23 °C [Adams, 2012]
Further information:
1) Melting point/pour point = -20.15 ± 3.0 °C [Safepharm, 2007; Read-across data from C8 constituent];
2) Melting point/pour point = (37.6 ± 0.5 °C to 44.9 ± 0.5 °C) [Safepharm, 2007; Read-across data from C4 constituent];
3) Melting point = 186.5°C (459 K) [calculated for C9 constituent of isomeric mixture; EPIWIN, Chemservice S.A., 2011]

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-23 °C

Additional information

The melting point of the substance was not determined as its physical state at 20 °C and 1013 hPa is a liquid. The pour point of the test material is -23 °C as determined by the ASTM D97 guideline. The melting point of -20.15 of the "C8" subsatnce (CAS 144429 -84 -5) is close to the pour point of the target substance.
