Description of key information

Octanol-water partition coefficient (DTPMP-xNH4): <-3.40

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A log Kow value of -3.40 is reported in a reliable study conducted according to generally accepted scientific principles. Method has been adequately described in the report. The result is considered to be reliable and has been assigned as key study. This value was read-across to the salt from DTPMP parent acid.

Another log Kow value of -8 is reported using atom fragment contribution method. The fragment coefficients are supported by a collection of reliable data. Therefore, the calculated result is considered to be suitable for supporting study. Similarly, a log Kow value of -8.22 was reported for the sodium salt in a reliable secondary source.

It is considered that the ammonium salt solutions would have equivalent properties and these data are validly read across.
