Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Additional information:

In a Guinea Pig Maximisation test according to OECD TG 406 and GLP, 2-Hydroxy-4,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-triazin was observed for its skin sensitizing properties. Five animals per sex in the control group and ten animals in the test group were used in this study. The intradermal induction with test substance (5% in oleum arachidis) was followed by an occlusive epicutaneous induction (one week later, 50% in vaseline) in the test group. The animals of the vehicle control group had an induction procedure similar to the test group, but without test substance. At the challenge procedure the animals of the test group as well as the vehicle control were treated with and without test substance (50%). No animals with reactions were observed, neither in the control nor in the test group. Thus, 2-Hydroxy-4,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-triazin did not show any skin sensitizing properties in the guinea pig maximisation test.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
In a GPMT 0/20 animals showed positive reactions on the test substance. Thus, 2-Hydroxy-4,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-triazin was judged to possess no skin sensitizing properties.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Additional information:

There is no information available on the potential for 2-Hydroxy-4,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-triazin to produce respiratory sensitisation in animals or humans.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Dangerous Substance Directive (67/548/EEC)

-no classification required for skin sensitisation

Classification, Labeling, and Packaging Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 (last amended by EC/286/2008 (2011-03-10)):

-no classification required for skin sensitisation
