Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

Two biodegradation screening test with Ethylene glycol propyl ether following the American Public Health Association (APHA, Washington, D.C., 1985) BOD test design. One study used acclimated inoculum and is not considered for the conclusion. In the other study, mineralisation reached 66% after 10 days with non-acclimated inoculum. While the amount of inoculum is not specified in the report, a typical amount used is 10^5 cells/ml. The amount of inoculum is limited by the loss of sensitivity due to background 02 depletion and by the maximum amount of O2 dissolved in the test solution. From the results of this test it can be concluded that Ethylene glycol propyl ether is readily biodegradable.
