Description of key information

Non-flammable, EU Method A.10, Laky 2011.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The key study (Laky, 2011) was performed under GLP conditions and in accordance with standardised guidelines. The study was assigned a reliability score of 1 in accordance with the principles for assessing data quality as defined by Klimisch (1997). Under the conditions of the study, the surface of the test material turned dark brown and did not ignite. The test material is therefore considered to be non flammable.

In accordance with Section 2 of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH) Annex XI, it is considered justified to omit the Flammability (Contact with Water) study and the Flammability (Pyrophoric Properties) study (both required under standard information requirement Section 7.10) as there is no evidence based on its chemical structure, and experience in handling, that the substance will either spontaneously ignite in air at room temperature or exhibit flammable properties in contact with water.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the criteria outlined in Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 the test material does not meets the criteria for classification as a flammable substance.
