The substance 1-Propaneamine, 3-(isodecyloxy)-, acetate (CAS no 28701-67-9) consists mainly of etheramine with carbon chain lengths of C9 – C11 (rich on C10) and is neutralised with acetate. Read-across has been performed with

1 -Propaneamine, 3 -(isodecyloxy)-, which has the same chemical structure but not neutralised with acetate. The acetate is not expected to have an impact on the environmental fate properties. Synonyms are 3-(Isodecyloxy) propylamine acetate and 3 -(Isodecyloxy) propylamine respectively.

Abiotic degradation

A hydrolysis test has been waived because the substance is readily biodegradable in accordance with column 2 of Annex VIII of Regulation 1907/2006/EC. Hydrolysis is expected to be negligible on the basis of the chemical structure. According to EPIWIN calculations the reaction with OH-radicals in air would result in a half-life time in air in the order of a few hours. However the substance is not expected to volatilise to any significant extent.


In a ready biodegradation study according to OECD TG 301D (GLP, reliability 1) 68% oxidation was found after 28 days. The study demonstrates that the substance is readily biodegradable.


The substance is expected to have a low bioaccumulation potential based on the low log Kow. Log Kow of -0.34 was determined with the slow stirring method for the 3 -(Isodecyloxy)propylamine.

Transport and distribution

The mean Kd was experimentally determined to be 2010 L/kg (range 940 - 2590) indicating a moderate sorption potential.
