Description of key information

Appearance/physical state:

On the basis of physical observation, the test chemical was observed to be yellow coloured powder in appearance.

Melting point:

The melting point observation of the test chemical was performed following OECD Guideline 102 and according to the metal block capillary method. The test was conducted in replicates and mean decomposition point was observed to be 381°C at 972.8 hPa.

Boiling point:

The study does not need to be conducted because chemical change occured during the melting point study.

Density:

The density of test chemical was determined following OECD Guideline 109 and according to the Adapted from ASTM D854-02 using glass pyknometer. The mean density of test chemical was determined to be 0.4025 g/cm³ at 20°C and 973 hPa.

Particle size distribution:

The particle size distribution of test chemical was determined by granulometric analysis with rotap sieve shaker. The particle size distribution was determined to be in the range of 150 - 10 microns.

Vapour pressure:

MPBPVP v1.43 was used to estimate the vapour pressure of the test chemical. The estimated vapour pressure of the test chemical at 25 °C was 8.85E-018 Pa.

Partition coefficient:

The partition Coefficient n-octanol/water of the test substance was determined by the Reverse Phase High Performance Liquid Chromatographic method according to OECD Guideline No. 117 for testing of Chemicals. The Log Pow value of test chemical was determined to be 5.2 at 25°C.

Water solubility:

The water solubility determination of test chemical was done as per the OECD guideline 105 and by spectrophotometric analytical method as per OECD 101. Under the test condition, solubility of test chemical was observed to be less than 0.01 mg/L so it is concluded that chemical is insoluble in water.

Surface tension:

The study does not need to be conducted because water solubility is below 1 mg/L at 20°C.

Flash point:

The study does not need to be conducted because the flash point is only relevant to liquids and low melting point solids.

Auto flammability:

Test material did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that the test chemical is not auto-flammable.

Flammability:

Test chemical does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that the test chemical is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus the test chemical was considered non-flammable.

Explosiveness:

The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties.

Oxidising properties:

The study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance contains oxygen or halogens atoms which are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.

pH:

The pH determination of test chemical was done following OECD Guideline 122 (Determination of pH, Acidity and Alkalinity). pH of 1% w/v dispersion was measured with the help of pH meter and it was observed to be 6.33 at 29 °C.

Additional information

Appearance/physical state:

Summarized result for the observation of physical state of test chemical has been reviewed and mentioned as below:

On the basis of physical observation, the test chemical was observed to be yellow coloured powder in appearance.

Based on available data from authoritative database, the test chemical was observed to be odourless yellow colored powder in appearance.

Based on available data from authoritative database, the test chemical was observed to be dry powder in appearance.

MPBPVP v1.43 was used to estimate the vapour pressure of the test chemical. The estimated vapour pressure of the test chemical at 25 °C was 8.85E-018 Pa.

From other authoritative databases, the vapour pressure of the test chemical was estimated to be 3.72E-016 Pa at 25 °C.

Partition coefficient:

Various experimental and predicted data has been summarized as below for the determination of partition Coefficient of test chemical.

The partition Coefficient n-octanol/water of the test substance was determined by the Reverse Phase High Performance Liquid Chromatographic method according to OECD Guideline No. 117 for testing of Chemicals. The Log Pow value of test chemical was determined to be 5.2 at 25°C.

The partition coefficient (log Pow) value of the test substance was estimated to be 5.07 using OPERA V1.02. Based on this value, the test chemical can be considered to be hydrophobic in nature.
