- Details on results:
- According to the retention times of the reference substances, the capacity factor (k) and Logk were calculated. Log k and log Kow were fitted and regression line was y = 2.74x + 3.39 with R2 of 0.9887.
The retention time of the constituent TFSK of the test substance was 0.63 min in both runs. Calculated by the equation, the log Kow of TSK was -0.76 by extrapolation. The retention times of the constituent TFAK were 0.61 min and 0.60 min in the two runs. It showed that the retention time of the two substances were near to that of dead time, which meant that the test substance couldn't be retained on the column. According to the method, at least one of the reference substances with a log Kow below the expected Log Kow value of the test substance should be used. However, the test substance was very weakly retained on the column and its Log Kow was less than the selected reference substance acetanilide with the lowest Log Kow
of 1.0. Considering the uncertainty of extrapolation, the log Kow of the test substance was considered to be less than 1.0.
The difference of the two values of log Kow derived from parallel two measurements was 0.0 and therefore the test was considered to be valid. - Conclusions:
- The partition coefficient n-octanol / water (Pow) of the test item was determined to be <1.
- Executive summary:
In a GLP compliant study, performed according to OECD guideline 117, the partition coefficient of the test substance between n-octanol and aqueous phase was determined using the HPLC method. The partition coefficient (log pow) was determined to be <1. Based on these results it can be expected that the test item is not potentially bioaccumulable.

Description of key information
The Log Kow of the reaction mass of potassium trifluoromethanesulphinate and potassium trifluoroacetate is <1.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
Additional information
The results of a GLP compliant OECD 117 study show that the Log Kow for the reaction mass of potassium trifluoromethanesulphinate and potassium trifluoroacetate is <1.
Based on its log Kow value, the test item is considered not to possess a potential for bioaccumulation.
