Description of key information

One publication is available to assess the phototransformation of TFA in water. TFA appears to have a low relative reactivity at the photolysis in aqueous solution.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One publication is available to assess the phototransformation of TFA in water.

This publication, performed by Maruthamuthu in 1995, investigates the kinetics of the aqueous-phase reactions of the free radicals OH, Cl2- and SO4- with TFA. Rate constants for some reactions of radicals with TFA in water were 3.9E+03 L/mol/s for NO3, 1.6 +/- 0.1E+04 L/mol/s for SO4-, <104 L/mol/s for Cl2- and < 1E+06 L/mol/s for OH.

TFA shows a low relative reactivity at the photolysis in aqueous solution.
