Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In the Klimisch 1 GLP study from Fischer (2002) the partition coefficient of Chloroacetamide was determined using by HPLC following OECD 107 and EU method A.8. The partition coefficient of Chloroacetamide at 25°C was determined by measuring the concentrations in the 1-octanol and water phases of six different solutions with different concentrations. Based on the concentrations measured, the partition coefficients were calculated. The mean partition coefficient (Pow) was 0.233 (+/- 0.0181) and the log Pow was -0.63.

In the Klimisch 2 study from CABB (2007) thepartition coefficientof Chloroacetamide was calculated using the international accepted QSAR tool EPIwin. For 25 °C the log Pow was calculated to be -0.58. The results of this study are considered reliable and relevant for the risk assessment. However, since an experimental value is available, this QSAR study is considered to be supporting information only.

Hence both studies indicate that Chloroacetamide has a low log Pow. For the risk assessment, the measured log Pow will be used, i.e., -0,63.

The results of this study are considered reliable and relevant for the risk assessment.
