Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment

Administrative data

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

PBT/vPvB screening criteria have been used to assess whether the substance may potentially fulfil the PBT or vPvB criteria.

Persistance Assessment

Triethoxyisobutylsilane is expected to hydrolyse, with a half-life of approximately 22 h at pH 7 and 20-25°C (QSAR).It is also readily biodegradable.

Therefore, the substance does not meet the criteria for persistence (P); it is not P and not vP.

Bioaccumulation Assessment

Triethoxyisobutylsilaneis not expected to bioaccumulate, based on a predicted BCF of229 l/kg-wwt, estimated from log Kow.

Therefore, the substance does not meet the criteria for bioaccumulation; it is not B and not vB.

Toxicity Assessment

There are no long-term data available to assess the substance according to the definitive criteria for T for the environment. However the substance is not considered as T for the environment as the aquatic short-term toxicity data available (LC5085 mg/l) does not meet the screening criteria for T for the environment (L(E)C50<0.1 mg/l).

The substance is not classified for specific target organ toxicity, carcinogenicity, mutagenicity or reproductive and developmental toxicity in mammals (See Section 5.9). The criteria for “T” based on mammalian effects are therefore not met.

Summary and overall conclusion on PBT or vPvB Properties

Triethoxyisobutylsilane does not meet the criteria for PBT or vPvB.
