Description of key information

Environmental behaviour

1,3-di-o-tolylguanidine (DOTG) is not expected to undergo hydrolysis in the environment. Indeed, the results from the primary hydrolysis tests have demonstrated that the substance is hydrolytically stable at environmental pH.

1,3-di-o-tolylguanidine was not identified as readily biodegradable in a ready biodegradability test.

1,3-di-o-tolylguanidine may sorb on sediment and soil (log Koc = 3.64).

Bioaccumation potential

The partition coefficient of 1,3-di-o-tolylguanidine was assessed in accordance with OECD testing guideline 107 and GLP requirements. The partition coefficient of 1,3-di-o-tolylguanidine was of 2.9 at 25°C.This value also indicates that 1,3-di-o-tolylguanidine is characterised by a low potential for bioaccumulation.
