Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life for hydrolysis:
15.8 yr
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

A hydrolysis constant of 5.0 x 10-6 per hours (pH 7-9, 25°C) with a calculated half-life of 15.8 yr, has been derived for 1,2-dichloropropane in water (MacKayet al., 1993). Therefore the substance shows a very good stability in water as it is not subject to any abiotic degradation (hydrolysis), unless in a very long time.
