Description of key information

For blown linseed oil, studies on the aquatic toxicity are available for fish, algae and sludge. For Daphnia read-across from blown rapeseed oil and blown castor oil is conducted.

An overview of all results is presented in the table below:

Test

Exposure concentrations

Result (WAF or nominal)

Algae

OECD 201

 WAFs of 10, 18, 32, 56 and 100 mg/l.

72h-ErL50: >100 mg/L,

72h-ErL10: 61 mg/L,rel 1

Daphnia

OECD 202

WAF test, loading rate of 100 mg/L

read-across from Blown Rape Oil and Blown Castor Oil

48h-NOEL and 48h-EL50: > 100 mg/L, rel 2

Fish

OECD 203

nominal concentrations of 100, 153, 244, 391, 625 and 1000 mg/L

96h-LC50: 198 mg/L, which is exceeding the water solubility, rel 2

SludgeOECD 209 OECD 301B test  At a concentration of 15.5 mg/L in the OECD 301B study it was shown that the substance does not inhibit microbial activity.

Conclusion

The median effective test concentration for Daphnia, fish and algae was >100mg/L (perpared as a WAF).
