The test item has no danger of explosion according to the explosive properties in the sense of the European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, A.14. and OPPTS 830.6316.
In accordance with regulation (EC) No 440/2008, testing for explosive properties does not need to be conducted, when available thermodynamic information and/or absence of certain reactive groups in the structural formula establishes beyond reasonable doubt that the substance is incapable of rapid decomposition with evolution of gases or release of heat (i.e. the material does not present any risk of explosion).
The structural formula does not contain reactive groups associated with explosiveness, the heat of decomposition is below 500 J/g. The test item has no danger of explosion according to the explosive properties in the sense of the European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, A.14. Therefore the testing of explosive properties was not necessary.

Based on the structure of the molecule and taking into account the provisions laid down in Council Directive 67/548/EEC and CLP (GHS) , methyl 4 -hydroxybenzoate does not have to be classified with respect to explosiveness.
