Description of key information

Waived: Based on REACH guidance, the study does not need to be conducted because the test substance is hydrolytically unstable at pH 4, 7, and 9.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In accordance with REACH guidance, the study does not need to be conducted because the test substance is hydrolytically unstable at pH 4, 7, and 9, rapidly hydrolyzing to form boric acid. Hydrolysis half-lives range from seconds to minutes, much less than the 12-hour half-life criteria which defines hydrolytic instability for water solubility measurements. The water solubility of the boric acid was 49.20 ± 0.35 g/L at 20.0 ± 0.5 ºC.
