Test system

Type of coverage:
semiocclusive
Preparation of test site:
shaved
Vehicle:
water
Controls:
no
Amount / concentration applied:
TEST MATERIAL
- Amount(s) applied (volume or weight with unit): 0.5 g moistened with distilled water

VEHICLE
- Amount(s) applied (volume or weight with unit): 0.5 ml
Duration of treatment / exposure:
4 hours
Observation period:
1, 24, 48 and 72 hours
Number of animals:
3
Details on study design:
TEST SITE
- Area of exposure: on the back
- Type of wrap if used: 2.5 cm x 2.5 cm cotton gauze patch, secured in position with a strip of surgical adhesive tape (BLENDERM: approximate size 2.5 cm x 4.0 cm). To prevent the animals from interfering with the patches, the trunk of each rabbit was wrapped in an elastical corset (TUBIGRIP).

REMOVAL OF TEST SUBSTANCE
- Washing (if done): yes, by gently swabbing with cotton wool soaked in distilled water.
- Time after start of exposure: 4 hours

SCORING SYSTEM: Draize
