Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

There is one study on fish toxicity available for Sorbitan laurate (CAS No. 1338-39-2).

The key study conducted with for Sorbitan laurate (CAS No. 1338-39-2) was performed as a limit test, according to OECD Guideline 203 and GLP (Teigeler, 2012). The fish were exposed to the nominal test concentration of 100 mg/L, prepared as water accommodated fractions (WAF). No mortalities were observed at the test concentration, during the 96-hour test period, and a LC50 of > 100 mg/L was reported.

Additionally, a short summary of a 96-hour fish test is available for Sorbitan laurate. Salmo gairdneri was used as test organism. No mortality was observed at concentrations up to 56 mg/L, but at 100 mg/L all fish were dead. An LC50 of 75 mg/L is reported. Since, the documentation was insufficient to assess the quality of the data, this result was not used in the assessment of fish toxicity of Sorbitan laurate.
