Testing on biodegradation does not to be performed as strontium ferrite is an inorganic substance. The formal justifications under REACH are different for the individual endpoints.

Biodegradation in water (screening)

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, No 9.2.1.1, the ready degradability study does not need to be performed as the substance is inorganic. In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annexes VIII, IX and X, Numbers 9.2 further degradation testing does not be considered if the CSA does not indicate the need to investigate further the degradation of the substance. The outcome of the CSA does not indicate the need for further degradation testing.

Biodegradation in water (simulation test) and sediments

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex XI, No 9.2.1.2, the study on simulation testing on ultimate degradation in water does not need to be performed as the substance is inorganic. In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, No. 9.2.1.1 in conjunction with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, No 9.2.1.4, the study on sediment simulation testing does not need to be performed as the substance is inorganic. In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annexes VIII, IX and X, Numbers 9.2 further degradation testing does not be considered if the CSA does not indicate the need to investigate further the degradation of the substance. The outcome of the CSA does not indicate the need for further degradation testing.

Biodegradation in soil

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, No. 9.2.1.1 in conjunction with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, No 9.2.1.3, the study on soil simulation testing does not need to be performed as the substance is inorganic. In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annexes VIII, IX and X, Numbers 9.2 further degradation testing does not be considered if the CSA does not indicate the need to investigate further the degradation of the substance. The outcome of the CSA does not indicate the need for further degradation testing.
