Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Waiving as direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment by strontium ferrite is unlikely.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Strontium ferrite is not supposed to be directly applied to soil. Indirect exposure to soil is unlikely as strontium ferrite is mostly used in articles without intended release. Furthermore, there is no relevant release of strontium ferrite molecules from solids due to its low water solubility. Therefore soil is not expected to be a compartment of concern. The risk to terrestrial plants is negligible.

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, No 9.4, studies on effects on terrestrial organisms do not need to be conducted if direct or indirect exposure of the soil is unlikely. In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex X, No 9.4, long-term toxicity testing for effects on terrestrial organisms do not need to be conducted if direct or indirect exposure of the soil is unlikely, or the CSA does not indicate the need to investigate further the effects of the substance and/or degradation products on terrestrial organisms.

All mentioned criteria for waiving apply.
