Additional information

Chloroform is a clear, colourless, volatile liquid with pleasant etheric odour and sweet taste. Its melting point is at -63.5 °C and the boiling point is at 61 °C. The relative density of chloroform at 20 °C is 1.49 mg/cm3. Its vapour pressure at 20 °C is 21100 Pa (Moelwyn-Hughes and Missen 1957). The water solubility of chloroform at 23 °C is 8700 mg/L (Broholm and Feenstra 1993). The surface tension of chloroform is approximately 27 mN/m and the viscosity is approximately 0.56 mPa*s. Chloroform is stable in organic solvents. It does not have a flash-point, is non-flammable, non-explosive and non-oxidising.
