Butoxy ethyl acetate is deacetylated very rapidly to butoxyethanol in rat serum. Half-life of the substance in the rat plasma determined by gas chromatography was 0.96 minutes.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- Interpretation of results (migrated information): no bioaccumulation potential based on study results
It can be concluded that butoxyethyl acetate entering the blood is broken down very rapidly to the parent glycol ether 2-butoxyethanol (~95% within 4-5 minutes). The systemic toxicity of 2-butoxyethyl acetate will therefore be the same as the parent glycol ether 2-butoxyethanol. - Executive summary:
An in vitro study examined the rate of hydrolysis of 2 -butoxyethyl acetate (2BA) in rat blood plasma. 2BA was deacetylated very rapidly to butoxyethanol in rat serum with a half life of 0.96 minutes.
