Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Inhalation: Move the person away from the contaminated area.Make the affected person rest. Obtain medical attention.Show this sheet to the doctor.
Skin contact: Remove all contaminated clothing and footwear. Wash immediately and thoroughly for a prolonged period (at least 15 minutes). In case of inflammation (redness, irritation, ...) obtain medical attention.Show this sheet to the doctor.
Eye contact: Immediately rinse with plenty of running water for a prolonged period, (at least 15 minutes) whilst keeping the eyes wide open Always obtain medical advice immediately, even if there are no symptoms. Show this sheet to the doctor.
Ingestion: NEVER attempt to induce vomiting.Do not give anything to drink. Always obtain medical attention immediately.
Protection of first aiders: - self-contained breathing apparatus. - gloves, goggles, boots.
Further information : Use appropriate protective equipment when treating a contaminated person. Place contaminated clothing in a sealed bag for disposal.
Fire-fighting measures
Extinguishing media
- Not suitable : Carbon dioxide (CO2).
- Suitable : Water spray
Specific hazards : Combustible.
During combustion: Highly toxic gases are released.
Specific fire fighting methods : Cool down the containers/equipment exposed to heat with a water spray.
Protection of fire-fighters : Self-contained breathing apparatus. Impermeable boots and protective equipment.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions : If spillage occurs on the public highway, indicate the danger and notify the authorities (police, fire brigade ).
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. NO flames, NO sparks. Eliminate all sources of ignition.
Personal protective equipment: self-contained breathing apparatus; appropriate gloves; safety glasses; water-proof boots.
Evacuate the danger area.
Environmental precautions: Contain the spilled material by bunding. Do NOT discharge into drains or rivers.
Method for cleaning up:
-Recovery: Collect up the product and place it in a spare container suitably labelled.
- Neutralization: Spread inert absorbent material.
- Cleaning/decontaminatio: Wash contaminated area with large amounts of water. Recover the cleaning water for subsequent disposal.
Handling and storage
STORAGE
Technical measures : Vapour extraction at source.
Measures : Avoid contact with air
Safe handling advice : Only use in well-ventilated areas.
HANDLING
Technical measures : Ensure that there is a suitable retention system.
Storage conditions: Recommended : Store in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from any source of ignition, away from incompatible materials.
To avoid solidification, keep at temperatures of between 50°C and 60°C, in an inert atmosphere.
Incompatible products : Acids. Oxidizing materials.
Packaging : Metallic drums, Metal container.
Packaging materials recommended : Stainless steel.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Risk management measures are described in the CSR attached.
Stability and reactivity
Stable under normal conditions of use.
Hazardous reaction:
- Materials to avoid : Reacts violently with: strong acids and oxidizing agents.
- Hazardous decomposition products : On thermal decomposition (pyrolysis) releases: highly toxic gases (Hydrogen cyanide, Ammonia).
Further information : Reacts slowly with carbon dioxide present in the air.
Disposal considerations
RESIDUES FROM PRODUCT
Destruction/Disposal : Incinerate at a licensed installation.
Prohibition : Discharging waste into rivers and drains
CONTAMINATED PACKAGING
Decontamination/cleaning : Clean with water.
Recover the cleaning water and dispose of at a specialist site.
Destruction/Disposal : Reuse or recycle following washing.
NOTE : The user's attention is drawn to the possible existence of local
regulations regarding disposal.
Prohibition : Do not dispose of the product at a rubbish tip.
