Description of key information
Adsorption of dissolved silica to soil and sediments is not strong and it is relatively mobile in soil. Adsorption takes place primarily to inorganic materials and to a lesser extent to organic material. A value Koc < 10 L/kg can be given as a coarse calculated estimate (EUSES 2.1) . Measured Kd to activated carbon and starch were low 0.1-10. Measured Kd to minerals Bauxite, Limonite, Hematite and Goethite were between 100-1000.
