Description of key information
FAT 36038/J is a black coloured, odourless solid powder. The melting point of the substance was found to be 182 °C and thermic decomposition started at about 320 °C when tested according to OECD Guideline 102. The test substance did not boil until 350 °C, and thermic decomposition was observed again at about 320 °C when tested according to OECD Guideline 103. The average density of FAT 36038/J was found to be 1.2654 g/cm³ at 20 °C, with a median particle size of 8.012 μm. The vapour pressure of FAT 36038/J is less than 0.0023 Pa at 25 °C. The partition coefficient n-octanol/water at 20 °C was determined to be (log Pow) 5.02. The water solubility at 20 °C was determined to be <0.8 ug/L (without correction for the purity). The surface tension was determined to be 73.196 mN/m at 20 °C. Because the test substance is a solid and undergoes thermic decomposition during the melting point study, the flash point was not determined. FAT 36038/J is considered to be non-explosive according to Directive 67/548/EEC and Regulation (EC) 1272/2008. Oxidising properties were not determined as this substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials on the basis of its chemical structure.
