Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General information: Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Also heed the risks to your own person.
After inhalation: After inhalation take the patient into the fresh air. If patient has difficulty in breathing, administer oxygen, keep him calm and protect him from loss of warmth. In any case consult a physician.
After contact with skin: Remove all contaminated clothing immediately. Cleansing with plenty of water, soap or other non-irritating cleansing agents.
After contact with eyes: Contamination of the eyes must be treated by thorough irrigation with water, with the eyelids held open. Eventually a doctor (or eye specialist) should be consulted.
After ingestion: If the product is swallowed, the patient must at once drink water repeatedly, if possible with the addition of activated carbon. If the patient feels unwell, seek medical advice.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media: Water spray, foam, dry powder.
Extinguishing media that must not be used for safety reasons: CO2
Special protective equipment for firefighting: Firemen have to wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
Fire residues and contaminated firefighting water must be disposed of in accordance with the local regulations.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Avoid formation and deposition of dust. Use the necessary personal protection equipment during any work.
Environmental precautions: Do not empty into drains or waters.
Methods for cleaning up/taking up: Take up spilled product with dust-binding material or suitable vacuum cleaner. Fill into labelled, sealable containers. Avoid formation and deposition of dust.
Handling and storage
Advice on safe handling: Avoid formation and deposition of dust. Keep container tightly closed and dry.
Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Observe the usual precautionary measures required for chemicals with dust-explosive properties. Observe national regulations.
Requirements for storage rooms and vessels: Store in original container in a cool, dry place. In filling operations take precautionary measures against static discharges.
