Administrative data
First-aid measures
Inhalation : Move the person away from the contaminated area. Make the affected person rest. If necessary seek medical advice.
Skin contact: Wash with soap and water. Wash immediately and thoroughly for a prolonged period (at least 15 minutes). Remove all contaminated clothing and footwear. Obtain medical attention. Show the Safety Data Sheet to the doctor.
Eye contact: Immediately rinse with plenty of running water for a prolonged period (at least 15 minutes) whilst keeping the eyes wide open. Always obtain medical advice immediately, even if there are no symptoms. Show the Safety Data Sheet to the doctor.
Ingestion: NEVER attempt to induce vomiting. Do not give anything to drink. Always obtain medical attention immediately. Show the Safety Data Sheet to the doctor.
Further information: Establish a first aid action plan before using this product. Use appropriate protective equipment when treating a contaminated person. Place contaminated clothing in a sealed bag for disposal.
Fire-fighting measures
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA
Suitable: All extinguishing agents can be used (water, foam, powders, carbon dioxide, sand).
Not suitable: None. If there is a fire close by, use suitable extinguishing agents.
Specific hazards: Toxic gases or vapours are released. For further information, refer to section 10, Stability and Reactivity.
Specific Fire Fighting methods: Contain the extinguishing fluids by bunding (the product is hazardous for the environment). Do not dispose of fire-fighting water in the environment.
Protection of fire-fighters: Self-contained breathing apparatus. Complete protective clothing.
Further information: In the presence of water, forms acidic solutions.
Accidental release measures
Personal Precautions: Avoid contact with skin and eyes. If spillage occurs on the public highway, indicate the danger and notify the authorities (police, fire brigade). Full protective clothing should be worn. For further information refer to section 8, exposure controls/personal protection.
Environmental precautions: Prevent the product from spreading into the environment. Avoid direct discharge into drains. Contain the spilled material by bunding.
METHODS FOR CLEANING UP
Prohibited: DO NOT put the spilled material back into the original container for re-use.
Recovery: Recover as much of the product as possible. Absorb the product onto porus material. Transfer the product into a spare container suitably labelled. Then take the emergency containers to an area reserved for subsequent recycling or disposal.
Neutralisation: Absorb spillage with diatomaceous earth, sand or inert absorbent.
Cleaning/Decontamination: Wash non-recoverable remainder with large amounts of water. Recover the cleaning water for subsequent disposal.
Disposal: Place in an appropriate container and dispose of the contaminated material at a licensed site.
Handling and storage
HANDLING
Technical Measures: Ventilation.
Measures: work in a well-ventilated area. Avoid forming aerosols. Avoid the formation of mists in the atmosphere. DO NOT handle without gloves.
Safe handling advice: Handle and use in accordance with good occupational hygiene and safety practice. Do not mix with incompatable materials (see section 10 of the Safety Data Sheet).
STORAGE
Technical measures: Take all necessary measures to avoid accidental discharges of products into drains and waterways due to the rupture of containers or transfer systems.
Storage conditions recommended: store in a cool, dry area; the container tightly closed and dry; away from incompatible materials.
Incompatible products: Strong bases; strong oxidising agents.

Packaging materials recommended: Plastic materials (polyethylene, polypropylene) (high density).

Exposure controls / personal protection
Engineering measures: Avoid splashes (appropriate clothing, protective screens on machines etc).
CONTROL PARAMETERS EXPOSURE LIMIT VALUES (HUMAN HEALTH)
Workplace exposure limit values: (UK) Formaldehyde TWA 2ppm (2.5 mg/m3); STEL 2ppm (2.5 mg/m3)
Occupational exposure limit values: (France ) Formaldehyde VLE: 1ppm VME: 0.5ppm
Surveillance procedures: Keep the atmospheric concentration below the occupational exposure limits.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Respiratory protection: If the ventilation is suitable, it is not essential to wear respiratory equipment. If mist is formed: respiratory protective device with a particle filter.
Hand protection: Impermeable protective gloves. Use suitable chemical-resistant protective gloves (compliant with Standard EN 374-1). Protective gloves must be chosen according to the function of the workstation; other chemicals which may be handled, physical protection necessary (resistance to cutting, puncture, heat), dexterity required. The selection of gloves must be taken into account the extent and duration of use at the workstation.
Eye protection: Safety spectacles and a face shield.
Skin and body protection: Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection.
Selection criteria: Protective equipment must be chosen according to current CEN standards and in cooperation with the supplier of protective equipment.
Personal protective equipment must be defined after risk assessment for the workstation.
Collective emergency equipment: Emergency equipment and first aid box with instructions readily available. Eye fountain. Safety shower.
Stability and reactivity
Stability: stable under normal conditions of use.
HAZARDOUS REACTIONS
Materials to avoid: Alkalis and caustic products. Oxidising materials.
Hazardous decomposition products: On thermal decomposition (pyrolysis) releases: Phosphorus oxides, Phosphoric acid, Carbon oxides (CO + CO2), Hydrochloric acid, Formaldehyde, Nitrogen oxides. Above 200oC releases: toxic and highly flammable vapours which increase the risk of a fire or explosion (phosphine).
Disposal considerations
RESIDUES FROM PRODUCT
Prohibition: Do NOT discharge waste into drains. Discharging waste into rivers and drains is forbidden.
Destruction/Disposal: Dispose of in accordance with relevant local regulations. Dispose of this product as hazardous waste. Destroy at an authorised site.
CONTAMINATED PACKAGING
Decontamination / cleaning: Take preliminary precautions based on the dangerous properties of the product. Empty the packaging completely prior to disposal. Wash with water. Do not enter tanks or containers before they have been cleaned and de-gassed.
Desctruction/Disposal: Depending on local facilities, recycle or incinerate the packaging at an authorised site.
