The determination of the relative density of the test item was performed on the basis of EECdirective 92/69,EEC Publication No.L383, December 1992 and Council Regulation EC No. 440/2008, Methods for the determination of physico-chemical properties, A.3 ”Relative density”, as well as the OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals, No. 109, ”Density of Liquids and Solids”.

Based on the viscosity of the test item (between 55 and 58 Pa· s as given by the Sponsor) the density should have been determined using the pycnometer method. However, it was not possible to fill the pycnometer (as available at Harlan Laboratories Ltd.) with test item free from air bubbles. Therefore, the density of MTDID 8191 has been determined by a gravimetric method using a measuring cylinder.

The accuracy of the measuring cylinder was not reported.

The density at a temperature of 20.1 °C ± 0.1 °C with three independent aliquots of the test item was determined to be 1.1 g/cm³ (= 1.123·10³ kg/m³). The relative density of MTDID 8191 was calculated to be = 1.1.

Table, Sample density data
Sample No. Temperature (°C) Sample weight (g) Sample Volume (mL) Density (g/cm3) Relative density
1 20.0 – 20.2 4.98958 4.4 1.134
2 6.12129 5.4 1.134
3 4.95013 4.5 1.100
Mean 20.1±0.1     1.123 1.123

The accuracy of the measurement can be calculated by the table in the results (max. 0.023 g/cm3 from mean).

Calculation of the relative density = 1.123 g/cm3/ 0.99997 g/cm3= 1.1

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The relative density of MTDID 8191 was determined to be = 1.1.
Executive summary:

The purpose of the study was to determine the density of the test item at a specific temperature.

The density of the test item was determined to be 1.1 g/cm³ (= 1.1 · 10³ kg/m³) at 20.1 °C ± 0.1 °C.

The relative density of MTDID 8191 was determined to be = 1.1.
