Description of key information

KEY STUDY, OECD 401 (KEY_401_1986_HOECHST_86.0391): LD50 female rat = 1930 mg/kg bw (= most sensitive sex)
NON-KEY STUDY, unspecified guideline (NONKEY-401-2007-MSDS SYNTHESIA): LD50 rat = 1105 mg/kg bw

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Acute toxicity: via oral route

Endpoint conclusion
Dose descriptor:
LD50
Value:
1 930 mg/kg bw

Additional information

Testing for acute oral toxicity following OECD standard method revealed LD50 values of 2280 mg/kg bw for male and 1930 mg/kg bw for female rats. The lower value of 1930 mg/kg bw representing the most senitive response was identified to be suitable for classification purpose. Findings of a second supportive study (LD50: 1105 mg/kg bw) only available from a SDS, are not inconsistent with this conclusion.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The derived LD50 value of 1930 mg/kg bw meets criteria for classification as Xn, R 22 or Acute toxicity — Oral, Cat 4, H302.
