Conclusions:
Interpretation of results: slightly soluble (0.1-100 mg/L)
The water solubility of 1,3-bis(3-methyl-2,5-dioxo-1H-pyrrolinylmethyl)benzene was determined at 40.8 mg/L at 20 °C.
Executive summary:

The water solubility of 1,3-bis(3-methyl-2,5-dioxo-1H-pyrrolinylmethyl)benzene was determined to according to OECD method 105, EU method A.6. With the Flask shaking/column elution method the solubility was determined at 40.8 mg/L at 20 °C.

Wheaton vials containing 50 mg of 1,3-bis(3-methyl-2,5-dioxo-1H-pyrrolinylmethyl)benzene and 50 mL of distilled water were purged with nitrogen, sealed and shaken at 30 °C for 1, 2 and 3 days. On each occasion one vial was transferred to equilibrate at 20 °C for 24 hours. The samples were then filtered through 0.2 µ PTFE filters and the concentration of 1,3-bis(3-methyl-2,5-dioxo-1H-pyrrolinylmethyl)benzene determined by HPLC employing UV detection.
