The substance hydrolyses to 2-(3,4-epoxycyclohexyl)ethylsilanetriol and methanol with a hydrolysis half-life of less than 12 hours, predicted. Therefore, the environmental hazard assessment, including sediment and soil compartments due to water and moisture being present, is based on the properties of the silanol hydrolysis product in accordance with REACH guidance for Chemical Safety Assessment.

2-(3,4-Epoxycyclohexyl)ethylsilanetriol is the hydrolysis product relevant to conventional REACH Chemical Safety Assessment.

2-(3,4-Epoxycyclohexyl)ethylsilanetriol is susceptible to further hydrolysis reactions and the ultimate hydrolysis product is 2-(3,4-dihydroxycyclohexyl)ethylsilanetriol.

2-(3,4-Dihydroxycyclohexyl)ethylsilanetriol is the final product of hydrolysis reactions under the normal range of conditions of pH and temperature. However, other biotic or abiotic reactions may proceed over longer time-scales in the environment.
