Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The self-ignition temperature of reaction mass of dicerium trisulphide and dilanthanum trisulphide was determined to be 398°C in a GLP-compliant study performed according to a recognized guideline (EU Method A.16).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
398 °C

Additional information

The constituents of the reaction mass present self-ignition temperatures of 335°C (dicerium trisulphide) and higher than 450°C (dilanthanum trisulphide). The experimental self-ignition temperature of 398°C for the reaction mass is therefore not surprising.
