Description of key information

A hydrolysis as a function of pH study was conducted on the test substance in accordance with the OECD 111 Test Guideline and GLP requirements.

The preliminary study indicated that the test substance was unstable under all conditions (pH 1.2 at 37°C; pH 4.0, 7.0, 9.0 at 50°C). According to the results of the definitive test, recoveries show that equilibrium states were reached (0-20% hydrolysis) at several conditions: pH4 at 20, 50 and 70°C ; pH7 at 20 and 50°C and pH9 at 20°C.

The results above lead to the conclusion that, under most environmentally-relevant conditions, hydrolysis occurs to some degree but cannot be considered a major degradation pathway for the test substance.

Finally, the identification of hydrolysis products (Tier 3) was carried out with the condition pH 1.2 at37°C and pH9 at 70°C. GC-MS and ionic chromatography analysis allowed to observe cis-3,3,5-trimethylcyclohexanol (CAS 933-48-2) and acrylic acid (CAS 79 -10 -7) as degradation products. GCMS and HPLC-HRMS analysis in scan mode did not show other degradation products.
