Description of key information

The substance is an inorganic solid. Therefore, its log Kow is expected to be << 3. Hence, further investigations concerning adsorption/desorption are not required according to REACH Annex IX, 9.3.3. Furthermore the substance is insoluble in water. Hence adsorption to soil and sediment is not expected.

In order to satisfy requests of a non-European Competent Authority, tin sulphide was tested with reference to OECD Guideline 106 (Adsorption/Desorption, non-GLP). The results however are considered uncertain and not reliable based on the finding that the test material is removable completely by 0.22 µm fibrous membrane filtration and is hence considered available as particulate material which is associated with but not adsorbed to sediment after centrifugation.
