Chlorphenesin is non-toxic to aquatic species at three trophic levels: fish, aquatic invertebrates and algae, as demonstrated by the results below.

 - LC50 96 h fish > 100 mg/l: data obtained by read-across with similar substances (see read-across justification in section 13 of this IULCID dossier) and confirmed by predicted values for Chlorphenesin.

 - EC50 48h Daphnia Magna > 100 mg/l (nominal concentration): experimental data obtained testing Chlorphenesin according to OECD TG 202.

 - EC50 growth rate 72h Desmodesmus subspicatus  > 100 mg/l (nominal concentration): experimental data obtained testing Chlorphenesin according to OECD TG 201.

 Moreover, Chlorphenesin was tested for activated sludge respiration inhibition according to OECD TG 209 and EC50 = 713 mg/l (nominal concentration) was the result of this test.
