Endpoint:
flash point of flammable liquids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the flash point is only relevant to liquids and low melting point solids
Endpoint:
flash point of flammable liquids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
supporting study
Study period:
2017
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with national standard methods with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
ISO 2719 (Determination of flash point - Pensky-Martens closed cup method)
Deviations:
not specified
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
closed cup
Flash point apparatus:
Pensky-Martens apparatus
Specific details on test material used for the study:
ColaTeric CDB (cetyl and lauryl betaine) as 35% active solution in water
Remarks on result:
no flash point - measurement carried out until boiling temperature
Remarks:
The substance boils away without flashing, and therefore is nonflammable.

Description of key information

This end point has been waived on the grounds that the substance is a solid even though it is normally supplied as an aqueous liquid.

An attempt was made to measure the flash point on the active substance in aqueous form using a Pensky Martin closed cup method but the liquid simply boiled off without flashing and thus confirmed as being non flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
