Oxidiethylene bischloroformate is rapidly hydrolysed to diethylene glycol, HCl and CO2. Hydrolysis product diethylene glycol: readily biodegradable, but failing the 10 -d window. Regarding the hydrolysis products HCl and CO2, biodegradation is not applicable due to the inorganic character of these molecules.
