Description of key information
Short-term toxicity to fish:
A static renewal fathead minnow (Pimephales promelas) chronic toxicity test (7-days) was performed with Iso bornyl cyclo hexanol according to EPA/600/4-90/027 and ASTM's Methods E729, 1997, Volume 11.05.
- LC50: 1.36 mg/L
- NOEC: 0.34 mg/L (based on growth)
- LOEC: 1.36 mg/L (based on survival)
With a LC50-7days: 1.36 mg/L, isobornylcyclohexanol is toxic for fish.
Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates:
In a 48–hr-acute toxicity study, daphnids (Daphnia similis) were exposed to isobornylcyclohexanol at 1, 10 and 100 mg/L (nominal concentrations) under static conditions according to the similar OECD guideline 202.
The 48– hour EC50 was between 1 and 10 mg/L.
Based on the results of isobornylcyclohexanol is toxic to aquatic invertebrates.
Toxicity to aquatic algae:
In a 72 -hr-growth inhibition study, algae (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) were exposed to Rhodiantal original IBCH at 100 mg/L (nominal loading rate WAF) according to the OECD guideline 201.
The 72-hour EL50 of RHODIANTAL ORIGINAL IBCH to Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata has determined to be > 100 mg/L (nominal loading rate WAF) based on the growth rate; revealing it is not harmful for the algae.
The 72h No-Observed Effect Loading Rate (NOELR): 100 mg/L loading rate WAF
The 72h Lowest Observed Effect Loading Rate (LOELR): > 100 mg/L loading rate WAF
Long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates :
A static renewal Ceriodaphnia dubia chronic toxicity test (7-days) was performed with Iso bornyl cyclo hexanol according to EPA/600/4-90/027 and ASTM's Methods E729, 1997, Volume 11.05.
- LC50: 1.93 mg/L
- NOEC: 0.68 mg/L (based on reproduction)
- LOEC: 1.36 mg/L (based on reproduction)
With a NOEC-7days: 0.68 mg/L, isobornylcyclohexanol is toxic to aquatic invertebrates with long lasting effects.
Toxicity to microorganisms:
The inhibitory effect of Rhodiantal original IBCH on the respiration of the activated sludge was investigated in a 3 -hour respiration inhibition test according to OECD guideline for testing of chemicals n°209 (2010).
EC50 : > 1000 mg/L (total respiration)
EC10 : 318 mg/L
Based on the results, Rhodiantal original IBCH has no effect on the respiration rate of activated sludge microorganisms.
