Description of key information

With high probability acutely not harmful to aquatic algae.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
120 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
120 mg/L

Additional information

The effect of the reaction mass of phosphorothioic triamide, N-butyl- (NBPT) and phosphorothioic triamide, N-propyl- (NPPT) on

the growth rate of the green algae Desmodesmus subspicatus was investigated in GLP conform limit tests according to OECD guideline 201. After 72 hours of exposure a NOEC >= 120 mg/l was determined .Based on the structural similarities between NBPT and NPPT (NPPT is one CH2 -group shorter), it is assumed that the toxicity of NPPT is in the same range or even lower due its lower Kow value compared to NBPT.
