Reference
Endpoint:
relative density
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
06 June 2012 - 06 June 2012
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
study well documented, meets generally accepted scientific principles, acceptable for assessment
Qualifier:
no guideline followed
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Principle:
-Powder density (and volume) is determined by the use of a fully-automatic gas displacement pycnometer.

Method:
Tare the empty sample cup
- Fill the sample cup to at least 2/3 of the cup capacity with sample and record the weight
- Insert the filled sample cup into the cell chamber and close the cell chamber
- Start the analysis

Apparatus:
- Gas pycnometer from Micromeritics AccuPyc 1330, Model: 133/34010/00, S/N: 3814
- Helium gas cylinder from Air Liquide (Alphagaz 1 quality), purity 99.999%
- Analytical balance with reading accuracy of at least ±0.1mg from Mettler Toledo, Model AE2005, S/N: J62549
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
pycnometer method
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Product code: 0245F
Product batch / lot: 280PE310516
Key result
Type:
relative density
Density:
2.257 g/cm³
Temp.:
27.4 °C

Sample weight: 1.9833 g

Temperature: 27.4°C

Number of Purges: 10

Cell Volume: 12.1224 cm^3

Equilibrium Rate: 0.1000 psi g / min

Expansion Volume: 9.3330 cm^3

Conclusions:
Powder density (and volume) is determined by the use of a fully-automatic gas displacement
pycnometer. Average Density of seven measurements was 2.2575 g/cm^3 ± 0.0014 g/cm^3.
