Description of key information

Flammability upon ignition is not applicalbe as it is self-reactive.

The substance has no pyrophoric properties and does not liberate flammable gases in contact with water.
The substance is not a self-heating substance or mixture.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

The substance or mixture does not need to be classified as a flammable solid as the substance or mixture is self-reactive.

The substance or mixture does not need to be classified as pyrophoric as the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperaturefor prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.

The substance or mixture does not need to be classified as a substance which in contact with water emit flammable gases as the substance is known to be soluble in water to form a stable mixture.

The substance or mixture does not need to be classified as self-heating as the substance is as the substance is completely molten at 160 °C an in addition the substance or mixture does not need to be classified as self-heating as the substance is self-reactive.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with Annex I, Section 2.1, Section 2.2, Section 2.3, Section 2.7, Section 2.9, Section 2.10 Section 2.11, Section 2.12 of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and UN GHS Rev 6 (2015) the substance has not to be classified as readily combustible solid in class 4 Division 4.1, self-heating substance in Class 4 Division 4.2, substances which in contact with water emit flammable gases in Class 4 Division 4.3, pyrophoric liquid, pyrophoric solid in class 4 Division 4.2, flammable gases in class 2 or as aerosol in class 2.

Self-reactive substances and mixtures as well as pyrophoric or oxidising solids should not be considered for classification as flammable solids since flammability is an intrinsic hazard in these classes.

The substance is classified according to regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 Annex VI Table 3.2 as R11 highly flammable solid.
