Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
The target substance (propane-1,2,3-triol and its esterification products with formic acid; 701-316-8) is a clear liquid, free from suspended matter at 20 °C and 101.3 kPa which freezes below -20 °C and boils at 132 °C (101.3 kPa). The liquid has a density of 1.285 kg/L at 20 °C and is extremely water soluble with a water solubility of greater than 128.5 g/L and a Log Pow of greater than -5.17 and less than -3.35 at 21 °C. The flash point of the liquid is 140 °C (PMCC) and the autoignition temperature is 395 °C at 99.2 kPa. The vapour pressure has been estimated to be 0.386 kPa at 25 °C based on the modified Waston correlation.
Particle size distribution is waived on the basis that the registered substance is marketed or used in a non solid or granular form.
The oxidizing liquids study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidizing properties and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.
The explosive properties study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties.
The flammable solids and flammable gases studies do not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid.
The study to determine if contact with water emits flammable gases does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be soluble in water to form a stable mixture.
The pyrophoric liquids study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.
The surface tension study does not need to be conducted because surface activity is not a desired property of the material.
