First-aid measures

General information

When in doubt or ifs ymptoms are observed, get medical advice.

First aider: Avoid contact with the product.

After inhalation

Remove casualty to fresh air and keep warm and at rest. Administer oxygen if needed.

If experiencing respiratory symptoms and/or feeling unwell call a physician.

After contact with skin

Wash with plenty of water and soap, remove contaminated, saturated clothing immediately.

If feeling unwell immediately call a physician.

After contact with eyes

Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids.

Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.

Immediately consult an ophthalmologist.

After ingestion

Rinse mouth with water. Do NOT induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person or a person with cramps.

If vomiting occurs, lean victim forward or place on left side (head-down position, if possible) to maintain an open airway and prevent aspiration.

If feeling unwell immediately call a physician.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Irritations

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media

Water spray jet, alcohol resistant foam, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Dry extinguishing powder

Unsuitable extinguishing media

Full water jet

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Combustible, In general: For flammable organic substances dust explosion potential is assumed when finely dispersed in air.

Emission of irritating and toxic fumes and gases.

Hazardous combustion products: Carbon oxides, hydrogen chloride (HCl)

Advice for firefighters

In the dangerous zone wear self-contained breathing apparatus and suitable chemical resistant protective clothing.

Additional information

Suppress gases/vapours/mists with water spray jet.

Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. Do not allow entering drains or surface water.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Provide adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes. Do not breathe dust. Use personal protection equipment.

Environmental precautions

Do not allow to enter into soil/subsoil. Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Take up carefully when dry. For larger quantities: Use suitable dust binding material.

Provide adequate ventilation. Clean up affected area.

Handling and storage

Advice on safe handling

If handled uncovered, arrangements with local exhaust ventilation have to be used. Avoid dust formation. Do not breathe dust.

Avoid contact with water/moisture.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion

Usual measures for fire prevention.

Requirements for storage rooms and vessels

Keep in a cool, well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed. Store dry. Store protected from light.

Store separated from strong oxidising agents.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Appropriate engineering controls

Provide sufficient ventilation and/or local exhaust system.

Protective and hygiene measures

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice: Do not eat, drink, and smoke. Wash hands before break and after work.

Remove contaminated, saturated clothing immediately.

Eye/face protection

Wear tightly fitting safety goggles. (DIN EN 166)

Hand protection

Wear suitable gloves. (EN ISO 374)

The quality of the protective gloves resistant to chemicals must be chosen as a function of the specific working place concentration and quantity of hazardous substances. For special purposes, it is recommended to check the resistance to chemicals of the protective gloves mentioned above together with the supplier of these gloves.

Due to missing tests no material recommendation can be given.

Skin protection

Choose suitable personal protection equipment dependent on substance concentration and amount specific for workplace. Chemical resistance should be clarified with the supplier.

Respiratory protection

In the presence of dust nuisance wearing a respiratory protection mask with filter P2 (EN143) is recommended. Maintenance, testing and change of the filter cartridges must be performed following the recommendations of the supplier.

Environmental exposure controls

Avoid release to the environment.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

Any specific reactivity is not known.

Chemical stability

The substance is chemically stable under recommended conditions of storage, use and temperature.

Possibility of hazardous reactions

Hazardous polymerisation does not occur.

Dust explosion capability can be assumed.

Conditions to avoid

Heat, Humidity, UV-light

Incompatible materials

Oxidising agents,

strong bases, strong acids

Disposal considerations

Disposal recommendations

Chemicals and packages as waste must be disposed of in accordance with Directive 2008/98/EC and the respective national and local regulations. Consult your local or regional authorities.

Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains. Dispose of waste according to applicable legislation.

Contaminated packaging

Do not contaminate ground- or surface waters via drainage, by cleaning of equipment or disposal of wastes.

Non-contaminated packages may be recycled. Handle contaminated packages in the same way as the substance itself.
